Kill the Lights.

In my first project as a sophomore photography student, I was tasked with redesigning an existing album through photography. Type was only to be used to essential information, such as the album and artist name. Other than that, there were no parameters. I could choose any album I wanted to, so I went with my favorite genre of music: country. The album in question- Kill the Lights by Luke Bryan

There isn’t much process work to go over with this one. My concept was straight forward enough, the front cover is an industrial light, brightly illuminating a room. As for the back, well, it’s a light switch turned off. I wanted this particular project to be very literal, to the point where it was ironic. I also wanted to stray away from the stereotypical country album cover, as in a portrait of the artist taking up the entire frame, or the artist playing a guitar. This cover is as opposite of that as it can be.
